It has been so good to have Craig Mullan back at school doing what he loves… teaching rugby skills and drills to the children. The children have absolutely loved their session with him.

Our newly created leadership role of Kaitātaki this year has meant we have a clear way for student voice to be heard and a tuākana role across our kura. Both Kayla and Hunter were chosen by their peers and staff as having mana (charisma and a role model), a true sense of wairua (embrace the spirit of kapa haka) and manakitanga (integrity, sincerity and respect towards Māori beliefs, language and culture). As Kaitātaki they are also part of the school council.
Watch this space as they get to work as I know one of the goals is fundraising for Korowai cloaks for the Kapa Haka leaders for competitions.

This is all bar one of our school council for 2024. Positions on the council were well sought after and the calibre of applicants outstanding. Congratulations to those chosen by their peers and supported by staff. They have started the year strongly role modelling exemplary leadership at assemblies and coming up with a multitude of events and activities they want to complete this year.

Today I had a chat with our Whānau House Leaders about why they applied for the role and our expectations of them in the role. They had some wonderful suggestions and ideas of what they want to achieve this year. We are looking forward to working with them to get in place a Whānau House Cup/shield that the houses will compete for throughout the year.
